Outdoor Recreation

At Longacre Leadership, we value both work and play.  Through afternoon games and off-farm adventure trips, teenagers have the opportunity to both hone their leadership skills and relax.  Participants can choose to play a casual game of ultimate Frisbee, or hop on a bike with friends and experience Pennsylvania's historic significance and natural beauty.

Adventures:

Whitewater Rafting:  Stay overnight at Ohiopyle State Park and experience the thrill of Class 3 rapids on the lower Youghiogheny River.

Rock Climbing:  Dare to ascend one of several rock faces in the nearby Appalachian mountains of central PA.

Hiking/Backpacking:  Hike the Appalachian Trail, or go on an overnight backpacking trip with everything needed to survive.

Biking:  Take a biking tour and visit some of our local neighboring farms and creameries.  Or, pack up the bikes and head to Gettysburg National Military Park, to pedal through history.

Recreational Sports:

Summer afternoons are perfect times to play team sports with a group of friends.  However, you won’t find intense coaching or competition here.  Our games are pretty relaxed with an emphasis on including all who want to join in and have fun.  We play basketball, soccer, ultimate Frisbee, lacrosse, tennis, volleyball, and badminton.  Teens can spend an entire sweaty afternoon playing Capture the Flag in a forest, or invent their own wild games to play!
